Elmira, N.Y., September 11--State Senator George Winner (R-C-I, Elmira) issued the following statement in response to a political attack by his opponent earlier today:

"The bipartisan example of John McCain and Barack Obama serves political candidates across America well today. Our presidential candidates have put their campaigns on hold out of respect for the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

"It’s best for all of us to do the same. September 11th deserves to be a national day of observance, remembrance, and respect."
